ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - After fighting past Southern Arkansas in its conference opener on Thursday evening, the Henderson State women's basketball team faces Arkansas Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Duke Wells Center.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (3-1, 1-0) got its Great American Conference schedule off to a solid start on Thursday night when the Reddies rolled Southern Arkansas 77-61. Henderson started the game on a 16-2 run and never allowed SAU to make it a single possession affair, as the Reddies won their third-straight over the Muleriders.  
- Karrington Whaley had a memorable night for the Reddies, finishing with career-highs in points (22) and rebounds (14). Eight of Whaley's 14 boards were offensive. Pink Jones also broke out on Thursday with a season-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 mark from 3-point range. Hailey Estes notched her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Maci Mains added 13 off the bench with a game-high five assists. 
- Whaley leads the team in scoring and is 11th in the conference (14.0 points per game). She is also third in the league in rebounding (9.3 per game) and sixth in field goal percentage (58.5%). Estes leads the GAC in steals per game (4.5) and is second in the conference in rebounding (9.8 per game). Estes is third on the team in scoring (11.8 points per game), behind Mains (13.3 points per game). Pink Jones ranks second in the GAC in assists (5.8 per game) and fifth in steals (3.5 per game).
- The Reddies have been excellent at defending the 3-point line this season, allowing opponents to go just 7-for-53 from behind the arc, good for 13.2%, which ranks first in the GAC. HSU ranks third in the league in opponent's field goal percentage (33.9%) and second in the conference in steals per game (16.0). 
- Last season, Henderson State swept the season series with the Golden Suns for the first time since 2005-2006. The Reddies defeated ATU 70-62 in Russellville and 66-55 in Arkadelphia.
HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Pink Jones needs 23 points to pass Angelique Sledge for third all-time in scoring.
- Hailey Estes needs 13 rebounds to pass Kathy Comeaux for third all-time in rebounding, one steal to pass Christiana Hall for seventh all-time in steals and just 16 points to move into the Top-10 all-time in scoring in Henderson history.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
- Arkansas Tech (3-1, 1-0) also had a comfortable start to GAC play as the Golden Suns defeated Ouachita Baptist 80-58 on Thursday night. They were led by Jalei Oglesby, who scored 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting, and Kaley Shipman, who added an efficient 11 points.
- Oglesby, a freshman from Howe, Oklahoma, is an early season candidate for GAC Freshman of the year and is averaging a league-leading 22 points per game on 58.7% shooting. She is also pulling down seven rebounds per game, good for 10th in the GAC. 
- The Reddies 3-point defense will be tested against Ke'vonshaye Stackhouse, who is 7-for-11 from behind the arc this season. Hannah Villines, last season's GAC Newcomer of the Year, is the third ATU player averaging double figures with 10.5 points per game. 
- The Golden Suns lead the GAC in scoring (87.2 points per game), field goal percentage (46.4%), and rebounds per game (50.8).Â
