ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Reddies will take a brief break from conference play on Tuesday evening when they host Missouri Southern at 5:30 p.m. in the teams' second meeting of the year.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (4-1, 2-0) continued its hot start to conference play on Saturday when the Reddies knocked down 17 3-point field goals to defeat Arkansas Tech for the third-straight meeting dating back to last season. HSU was one 3-pointer short of tying the school record set last year in a 79-59 victory at Ouachita Baptist. The Reddies also played fantastic defense and held the GAC's leading scorer Jacei Oglesby to a 6-of-22 shooting performance.
- Hailey Estes was superb for HSU and tied a career high with 26 points and eight made 3-pointers. Estes also pulled down 12 rebounds, giving her double-doubles in each of Henderson's first two conference games. The senior and Conway native leads the Reddies in scoring (14.6 points per game), rebounding (10.2 per game), 3-point field goals made (15), and steals per game (3.8).
- Karrington Whaley also picked up her second-straight double-double with a 10-point, 10-rebound performance against Arkansas Tech. The junior leads Henderson in field goal percentage (53.7%) and is second on the team in scoring (13.2 points per game) and rebounding (9.4 per game).
- Blu Jones broke out in a big way in the win over Arkansas Tech with a season-high 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including a 4-for-7 mark from 3-point range. Many of Blu's points came courtesy of Pink Jones who set a school record against ATU with 14 assists. The senior and Fayetteville native leads the GAC in assists (7.4 per game).
- Henderson State's matchup with Missouri Southern will be the second contest of the season between the two teams. The Reddies defeated the Lions 79-70 in the opening game of the Big Red Classic hosted by Harding University. HSU was led in that contest by sophomore Maci Mains, who poured in a career-high 20 points.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Pink Jones 15 needs points to pass Angelique Sledge for third all-time at HSU in scoring.
- Against Arkansas Tech, Estes moved past Aesha Carter and Saprina Reed on HSU's all-time scoring list and is now ninth in Henderson history with 1085 points. Just one more rebound by Estes will also move her past Kathy Comeaux for third in program history.
SCOUTING MISSOURI SOUTHERN STATE
- Missouri Southern State (2-4) is coming off of its second win of the season, a 75-56 victory over Rogers State in which the Lions held RSU to just 30.9% shooting from the field.
