ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State fell in its second Great American Conference match of the year on Tuesday afternoon, as Arkansas Tech got past the Reddies 6-1 at the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center.
The Golden Suns (9-4, 2-0) took all four of the doubles matches to earn the first point of the day and carry a 1-0 lead into individual play.
In singles, Lorish Puluspene got Henderson on the board with a hard-fought 6-3, 5-7 (10-4) win at No. 2 over Teresa Sanchez. The victory was Puluspene's third of the season in singles and second win in the Reddies' last three matches. It was all Tech from there, however, as the Golden Suns won the other five individual contests to secure the match win.
The loss drops Henderson to 3-7 on the season and 0-2 in GAC play. The Reddies play next on Saturday, when they travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma, to face off with Oklahoma Baptist at 10 a.m.Â
