ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State took eight of nine contests from rival Ouachita Baptist on Thursday and defeated the Lady Tigers 6-1 to pick up its first Great American Conference win of the season. HSU has now won 11-straight matches against Ouachita dating back to 2013-14.

The Reddies got going early, when they swept through doubles play to take a 1-0 lead. Lauren Miller and Mariah Bartlett, who got a convincing 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, kept the momentum going with easy victories to start the individual contests. Bartlett dominated Taylor Hansard 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 doubles, while Miller made quick work of Kendra Dinsmore 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, to give Henderson a 3-0 advantage.

Needing just one more singles win to clinch, the Reddies got it from Cassie Berrier, who finished off a 6-4, 6-1 victory at her No. 6 spot to give HSU the match. The Reddies two top singles players, Sydnee Parker and Lorish Puluspene, each were pushed, but pulled out wins to cap the day for Henderson.

The win improves HSU to 4-8 on the year and 1-3 in GAC play. The Reddies return on Monday, when they travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma, to face Oklahoma Baptist at 3 p.m.
