DURANT, Okla. — Henderson State got off to a great start on Tuesday, and won the doubles point over Southeastern Oklahoma State, but the Savage Storm came back to take all the singles matches and down the Reddies, 4-1.
The Reddies' top two doubles teams claimed victories early in the match, as
Sydnee Parker and
Lorish Puluspene pulled out a tight 7-5 win at No. 1, and
Lauren Miller and
Mariah Bartlett brought home a 6-4 win at No. 2, to earn Henderson the one doubles point.
Leading 1-0, HSU ran into troubles in individual play, as Southeastern took the first three contests in straight sets to seize a 3-1 lead. Needing a win to stay alive, Bartlett took the first set over Diana Budnik at No. 4 singles, 6-4, but dropped the final two of a three-set thriller 4-6 and 1-6, ending the Reddies' hopes of a comeback.
Henderson will be back in action in its final regular season contest of the year on Thursday when the Reddies face John Brown at 12 p.m. in Arkadelphia.
