ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State dropped just one contest on Thursday and came away with a 6-1 victory over the Golden Eagles of John Brown University. The win improved HSU to 5-10 on the season.
The Reddies had a quick start to doubles play as
Lauren Miller and
Mariah Bartlett earned a convincing win at No. 2 doubles, 6-0. The Reddies also picked up wins at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the early 1-0 lead headed into singles play.
HSU extended the advantage to 2-0 when Miller grabbed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. The Reddies would go on to pick up four more victories in the individual matches, as
Sydnee Parker won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1,
Lorish Puluspene won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2,
Mariah Bartlett won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, and
Corbie Adams closed the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Henderson will be the No. 6 seed at the GAC Tournament next week in Bentonville, Arkansas. The Reddies will take on the to-be-determined No. 3 seed at 2 p.m. on April 25 in the league quarterfinals.
