ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddies women's basketball team will try to get back in the win column when it hosts East Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evening in the Duke Wells Center.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (11-5, 6-4) trailed Arkansas Tech 63-54 late in the third quarter on Saturday before using a 19-2 run to take a 73-65 lead with seven minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, HSU could not hold on, and ATU's Ashley Breathitt scored the game-winning basket with 14 seconds to go to give Tech an 87-85 victory.
- For the fifth-straight contest, the Reddies were led in scoring by sophomore Maci Mains who had 19 points in 31 minutes. Mains is averaging 18.2 points in HSU's last five games and has not scored less than 17 in any of those outings.
- Henderson senior Hailey Estes broke out of a shooting slump against Arkansas Tech, sparking the Reddies' comeback with 14 of her 18 points coming in the final quarter. Estes knocked down 6-of-10 shots against ATU including a mark of 3-for-6 from 3-point range.
- Facing an onslaught of Arkansas Tech post players, Karrington Whaley provided the Reddies with 18 points and 13 rebounds in 23 minutes of action. The junior also stepped behind the arc and splashed multiple 3-point field goals in a game for the first time in her career. Whaley has knocked down five of her nine attempts from beyond the arc this year.
 - Lani Snowden continued her 3-point prowess against Arkansas Tech, finishing 2-of-3 from downtown. Snowden is now 33-for-62 from behind the 3-point line this season and continues to lead the nation in 3-point shooting percentage at 53.2%.
HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Hailey senior needs 13 points to pass Angela Brown for sixth on Henderson's all-time scoring list She also needs just one steal to break a tie with Shannon Thorney for sixth on the all-time steals chart.
SCOUTING EAST CENTRAL
- East Central (3-13, 1-9) had one of the best seasons in program history last year, finishing 21-8 overall, and 16-6 in the GAC regular season. Unfortunately for the Tigers, 2019-20 has not been as kind. ECU lost its top two scorers, Lakin Preisner and Tia Williams, to graduation and has been without expected standout Stefany Lourenco for the entirety of the season.
- Senior Sam Schwab has been a bright spot on the ECU offense that has struggled at times this year. Schwab leads the Tigers, averaging 11.3 points per game and 7.9 boards per contest, which is good for fifth in the GAC. The Goddard, Kansas native has scored in double figures in six-straight games.
- The Reddies will also need to be wary of sophomore Hannah Ladd, who had a career-high 22 points against Arkansas-Monticello on Jan. 11. Ladd has also had an extremely hot hand as of late, combining to go 11-of-20 from 3-point range over her last 4 games.
- East Central is one of two teams in the GAC averaging less than 60 points per game against in-conference opponents, and the only team in the league shooting less than 35% as a team.
