ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State faces its toughest test of the season on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. when it welcomes in GAC leader Southeastern Oklahoma State.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (12-5, 7-4) trailed East Central 48-43 with 2:18 to play in the third quarter on Thursday and then proceeded to outscore ECU 19-3 over the next seven minutes on the way to staying undefeated at home this season with a 76-66 win.
- The East Central contest was the midway point of HSU's 22-game conference season. Halfway through a grueling conference schedule, the Reddies are one of five teams in a three-way tie for third place in the league standings.
- Henderson's bench was the story in the win over ECU, as the Reddie reserves outscored their ECU counterparts 27-2. Lexis Weber notched her second double-double of the season and snatched a career high 16 rebounds while scoring 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Madi Nichols and Ashley Farrar were efficient as well, combining to score 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting.Â
- The Reddies were led by their senior standout Hailey Estes who poured in 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out two assists. Despite missing out on her seventh double-double of the season, Estes is still the only player in the GAC averaging double-figures in both the scoring column and on the glass.Â
 - Henderson State has won four-straight and five of the last six against Southeastern Oklahoma State.Â
HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Hailey senior needs 18 points to pass Haleigh Henson for fifth on Henderson's all-time scoring list. She also needs just one steal to move past Shannon Thorney for sixth on the all-time steals chart.Â
- With a win Saturday, head coach Jill Thomas would tie Jeff Caldwell with 97 wins, the third-most in Henderson State women's basketball history.Â
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
- Southeastern Oklahoma State (13-2, 10-1) has been nearly unstoppable in GAC play this season and are winners of eight-straight games by an average of 17.6 points. Halfway through the conference season, the Storm have become the front-runners to claim the No. 1 seed in the GAC Tournament.Â
- SOSU's dynamic offense is led by Katie Webb who was awarded First Team All-GAC and Second Team All-Region honors despite having her season cut short by injury last year. Webb is a candidate for GAC Player of the Year and leads the conference in scoring at 17.9 points per game while ranking Top-10 in rebounding (7.6 per game) and field goal percentage (50.5%).
- Sophomore Kamryn Cantwell also had her 2018-19 campaign cut short with injury, but has returned as an even stronger player and is averaging 15.8 points per game, good for third in the GAC. Cantwell does it all for the Savage Storm, shooting 40.7% from 3-point range while grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game.Â
- In conference play, SOSU ranks either first or second in scoring offense, scoring defense, free throw percentage, field goal percentage, field goal percentage defense, 3-point percentage, 3-point percentage defense, and assists.Â
