ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddies suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Southern Nazarene on Thursday night and will look to salvage the weekend road trip with a matchup against Oklahoma Baptist at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (13-6, 8-5) used a 13-0 run to take a 64-58 lead with two minutes to play but could not hold onto the lead as SNU tied the game with 1.6 seconds to go in regulation and outscored HSU 15-7 in the overtime period. The Reddies held Southern Nazarene, the GAC's best 3-point shooting team to just a 2-for-11 performance from behind the arc but struggled to take care of the ball and committed 23 turnovers on the night.Â
- Henderson's junior forward Karrington Whaley had one of her most complete games on Thursday, scoring 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting while pulling down 13 rebounds and blocking four shots. In GAC games, Whaley ranks in the top five in the league in rebounding (8.2 per game), field goal percentage (52.7%), and blocks (2.2 per game).Â
- Senior Hailey Estes also had 16 points for the Reddies and knocked down four 3-point field goals. Estes has now hit three or more 3-pointers in four-straight games and is 13-for-32 (40.6%) from long range in that timeframe. The Conway, Arkansas native leads the league in 3-pointers made on the season with 55.
- Maci Mains had 11 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter to reach double-figures for the seventh straight game. With 10 or more versus Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Mains would become the second Reddie to finish with double-digits in eight straight games after Hailey Estes accomplished that feat from Nov. 9 to Dec. 14.Â
- The Reddies have won five-straight over OKBU and are looking for their third-straight season sweep of the Bison after taking the first meeting 84-73 on Jan. 2.
HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Pink Jones needs six assists to pass Julie Anderson and become HSU's all-time assist leader.Â
- A win for head coach Jill Thomas would be the 98th of her career and would make her the third-winningest coach in Henderson State Women's Basketball history.
SCOUTING Oklahoma Baptist

- Bison senior Ugochinyere Nwarie has been extremely feast or famine this season. The transfer from Alcorn State scored 34 points at Henderson State on Jan. 2 and has managed just 33 points in eight games since. Â
