ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — For the first time this season, HSU will hit the road for an Oklahoma road trip, as the Reddies get set to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.Â
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (9-3, 4-2) climbed the ladder of the GAC standings after a perfect start to 2020 and now sits in a second place tie with four other conference foes. Â
- In HSU's victory over Southern Nazarene, the Reddies were led by 18 points from sophomore Maci Mains. It was second time this season Mains has come off the bench to lead HSU in scoring. Â
- Karrington Whaley was awarded GAC Player of the Week honors after her performances in the two games last week. Whaley finished the weekend a combined 17-for-22 from the field while averaging 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. The Springdale, Arkansas native also knocked down both of her 3-point attempts and is 3-of-4 from behind the arc the season.  Â
- Pink Jones was one of three Reddies in double-figures against Southern Nazarene, and has now scored 13 or more in each of her last three games, something she did just twice in the first nine games of the season. In the last three contests, Jones is averaging 16 points per game while combining to go 19-of-32 from the field.Â
- Junior Lani Snowden continued her hot shooting last weekend, going a combined 5-of-9 from 3-point range. Snowden now leads the GAC in 3-point field goal percentage, knocking down outside shots at a 50% clip.Â
- The Reddies and the Lady Rangers have split the season series for three-straight years with each team winning at home. Henderson's last win in Alva came on January 9, 2016 when Dulincia Keener set HSU's single game scoring record with 45 points in an 82-64 win.Â
HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Hailey Estes needs six rebounds to pass Dulincia Keener and become Henderson State's all-time rebounding leader. The senior also needs 12 points to become the eighth Reddie to score 1200 in a career.Â
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMAÂ
- Northwestern Oklahoma State (7-5, 3-3) lost a 57-56 heartbreaker to Arkansas-Monticello last Saturday when UAM sank a free throw with no time remaining to seal a one point win. However, NWOSU did pick up their third win of the conference season on Thursday, Jan. 2 when it dismantled Southern Arkansas, 77-49.Â
- The Rangers are led by one of the most complete post players in the conference in junior Bailey Brown. Brown ranks in the top ten in the GAC in free throw percentage (90.4%), fifth in scoring (16.2 points per game), fifth in rebounding (8.1 per game), and seventh in field goal percentage (52.1%).Â
- Brown forms a dynamic duo with guard Kalea King who was a Second Team All-GAC performer last season. King averaged 14.2 points per game and rebounds the ball extremely well for her position, pulling down more than six boards per game.Â
- It will be the second-straight game in which the Reddies will face off against one of the league's toughest defenses. The Rangers lead the league in field goal percentage defense at 36.9% and allow opponents to score just 63.3 points per game which ranks second in the conference.
