ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Reddies will make one of the shortest road trips in the country on Thursday evening when they trek across the street to face Ouachita Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (15-7, 10-6) faltered down the stretch last Saturday and fell to Arkansas Monticello, 64-62. Hailey Estes finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds while Karrington Whaley scored 12 and notched 11 boards. It was the first time Henderson has lost this season when Estes and Whaley finish with double-doubles in the same game.
-  Whaley now has three double-doubles in her past four games and is averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds in that span. The junior leads the league in offensive rebounds (3.5 per game), is second in field goal percentage (54.5%), second in blocks (1.6 per game) and third in total rebounds (8.0 per game).
- Blu Jones had an excellent start and finished with 11 points against Arkansas-Monticello, marking the first time she has scored 10 or more since HSU's first meeting with Ouachita back on Jan. 16.
- The Reddies have dominated the recent meetings against Ouachita Baptist and will go for their seventh-straight win over the Lady Tigers on Thursday. A seventh-consecutive victory would mark the longest win streak for the Reddies in series history.
- Henderson State won the season's first meeting 75-46, holding OBU to just 31% shooting while getting 35 points from its bench at home in the Duke Wells Center.
HENDERSON STATE MILESTONE WATCH
- Estes needs just 20 points to pass Angelique Sledge for fourth on Henderson's all-time scoring list.
- Head coach Jill Thomas will go for her 100th win at HSU against OBU and would be the third coach in Henderson history to accomplish that feat.
SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST
- The 2019-20 season has been a struggle for Ouachita Baptist (4-18, 1-15). The Lady Tigers have already been eliminated from contention for the GAC Tournament and their lone GAC win came against Oklahoma Baptist who is also just 1-15 in league play.
- OBU is led by junior guard Maija Gertsone. Gertsone led all scorers with 22 points in the first meeting between the Reddie and the Lady Tigers and is averaging 13.2 points per game, good for 10th in the conference.
- The Lady Tigers tout a dynamic front court duo with juniors Eden Crow and Madison Raney. Crow was excellent in OBU's last game, a 69-60 loss to Harding, in which she went for 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Raney averages 9.7 points and 7.0 rebounds and has shown the ability to step out and knock down 3-point field goals, shooting 38.1% from long distance on the season.
- Ouachita Baptist has scored more than 70 points just once in their last 10 games and rank last in the GAC in scoring offense at just 58.6 points per game in league play.
