Women's Basketball Hosts First-Place Harding

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State faces one of its toughest tests of the season on Saturday afternoon when it welcomes GAC-leader Harding into the Duke Wells Center for a 1 p.m. tip-off.

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies (16-7, 11-6) shook off some first half cobwebs on Thursday night to score 37 third quarter points before cruising to victory against OBU. The 37 points scored after the intermission is the most the Reddies have scored in a single quarter of a conference game this season.

-  Pink Jones followed suit to score her highest point total in a GAC contest this year as she led the Reddies with 20 on 7-of-14 shooting. Jones has now scored in double-figures in four-consecutive contests — her longest streak of the season.

- Junior Karrington Whaley dominated the glass and secured a career-high 15 rebounds while adding 14 points on an ultra-efficient 6-of-7 shooting. Whaley has double-doubles in four of her last five games and is averaging 8.8 rebounds in conference games, which trails only Hailey Estes who is snagging 11.2 boards per game.

- Estes grabbed a double-double against OBU as well, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Estes, the only player in the GAC averaging a double-double, has 10 or more rebounds in five of her last six games and needs eight points to pass Angelique Sledge for fourth on Henderson's all-time scoring list.

- Lani Snowden pitched in 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting for the Reddies on Thursday night. HSU will need its sharpshooting junior to duplicate that performance against Harding after the Van Buren native was held to just two points in the teams' first meeting of the season.

- The Reddies fell 66-64 to Harding back on Dec. 7, but HSU has won the last two over the Lady Bisons in the Duke Wells Center.

SCOUTING HARDING
- Following an up and down start, Harding (16-7, 13-4) is the hottest team in the GAC and has climbed to the top of the standings after ripping off nine-straight wins.

- Harding is a team with very few weaknesses, ranking in the top half of the GAC in nearly every major statistical category. The Lady Bisons' strength lies with their heavy front court lineup, which allows them to out-rebound their opponents by 7.3 boards per game – the best margin in the conference.

- Senior Cheyenne Brown has taken over as Harding's main post presence after First Team All-GAC honoree Kellie Lampo's season ended with an injury. Brown has been excellent of late, averaging 19.6 points on 53% shooting in her last three games.

- Harding's backcourt is led by one of the most complete players in the league, Carissa Caples. The junior ranks in the Top-15 in the GAC in scoring (13.3 points per game), assists (2.7 per game), blocks (0.8 per game), 3-pointers made (2.0 per game) and 3-point percentage (40.5%).
