ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — After a slate of impressive competition in non-conference play, the Reddies open GAC action with a four-game series against two-time reigning conference champions Arkansas Tech.
The weekend series opens with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Friday and closes with another back-to-back on Saturday with first pitch set for 12 p.m.Â
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson State (4-8) won the opening contest in each of the last two weekends before dropping three-straight games in both the McGhee-Hawkins Invitational and the Alvy Early Memorial Classic.Â
- Kaitlyn O'Quinn has been one of the brightest spots in the HSU lineup during non-conference play. The freshman has started and hit safely in all 12 of Henderson's games, and leads the team with a .378 average, 14 hits, 12 stolen bases, 10 runs, and two triples.
- One of Henderson's most experienced hitters, Kailey Reese, is also enjoying a flying start to the 2020 season. The outfielder is batting .351 and leads the Reddies with six RBIs. Reese is one of two everyday players that has drawn more walks than strikeouts.
- Infielder Abbie Moore showed off her versatility as well as her power for the Reddies in Northwest Arkansas, starting two games behind the plate and two at third base. Moore also smacked two home runs in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic, giving her six for her career.Â
- The Reddies are still looking for their pitching staff and defense to settle into the 2020 season. HSU opponents are batting .337 and HSU is giving up 6.4 runs per game.Â

SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECHÂ
- Arkansas Tech (6-6) comes into the 2020 season looking to follow up one of the best years in program history after going 47-15, winning their second straight GAC Championship, and falling one game short of the College World Series.
- The Golden Suns racked up an impressive 10 All-GAC honorees in 2019 and had multiple All-Region and All-American selections. However, through the first three weekends of 2020, ATU's lineup has been boosted by Brooke Prewitt, who only appeared in five games last season. It hasn't taken long for the sophomore to explode onto the scene in 2020 season as she's racked up 23 RBIs in just 39 at-bats.
- Like Prewitt, Makenzie Goins also batted over .400 in non-conference play, clocking in with a .410 averaging in nine starts. Goins leads the team with 17 hits.
- Through 12 games of the 2020 season, the Golden Suns are searching for their next generation of pitching. Last season saw the departure of Bailey Shaffer, Kristen Dempsey, Megan Goodnight, and Cara Tolar, who combined to notch all 47 of ATU's wins.Â
