ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State returns to the court after missing five games and the Reddies will pick up with whom they left off: The Harding Lady Bisons. Henderson gets back in the action Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m. inside the Duke Wells Center.
Â
REDDIES REPORT
- The last time we saw Henderson State (1-2) play a basketball game was against Harding back on Jan. 14. Henderson fell to the Lady Bisons 92-73 inside Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
Â
- In the Reddies' last outing, they were led by
Ashley Farrar and
Sonni Martin who each had career nights with 23 and 13 points, respectively. History was also made that night as
Karrington Whaley set the all-time blocks record in Henderson State women's basketball history. Â
Â
- Farrar leads Henderson State in scoring with 17.5 points per game, while Whaley is pulling down 9.7 rebounds per game. After her career-high 35 points in HSU's season-opener,
Maci Mains has taken on more of the facilitator role, dishing out 7.3 assists per game.
Â
- High-octane offense has been the key to HSU's success this season. In the Reddies' lone win through three games this season, they scored over 90 points. In the two losses, they have failed to score over 80. Points in the paint has also spelled success for Henderson, as they piled on half a hundred plus eight in the painted area against Southern Arkansas compared to 26 and 24 against Arkansas Tech and Harding, respectively.
Â
- This matchup has been the battle of home court the last several years. The home team has come out the winner in each of the last seven meetings, including Henderson's trip to Searcy earlier this month.
Â
SCOUTING HARDING
- Harding (3-2) has caught fire after starting 0-2, winning its last three games by an average of 13 points. The Lady Bisons have also seen limited action as of recently, however, having only played twice since last seeing Henderson State.
Â
- Harding is led by freshman phenom Sage Hawley. Hawley leads HU in all major categories with 15.8 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, and 2.8 assists per game. In the last meeting, HSU held the star forward to a modest game, at least to her standard, tying her career-low with 14 points. The Memphis, Tennessee native did pull down 11 boards.
Â
- The Lady Bisons are 1-2 on the road this year. The lone win came in HU's last outing against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia, 87-80. Harding's two losses have been by a combined seven points.
