MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Henderson State dropped its rematch against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia Thursday afternoon, 6-1. The Reddies had opened up their season with a 4-3 victory over the Muleriders back in early February.
Â
Erica Jaggernauth and
Tirzah Bailey kept Henderson's doubles hopes alive as the tandem defeated SAU's Serena Gill and Honoka Yoshimura at No. 3 after HSU lost at No. 2, bringing the doubles point tally to 1-1 with the undefeated
Mulan Kamoe and
Franny Nyarko left to decide doubles play.
Â
Back in the season-opener, Kamoe/Nyarko beat the Muleriders' top doubles team, 7-5. This time around, Angela Vargas had a new partner in Lena Milosevic as the SAU duo bested the Reddies, 6-4, marking Kamoe and Nyarko's first loss of the season as doubles partners.
Â
Nyarko saw her first singles win of the season as she made her first appearance at the No. 4 spot for HSU, defeating Sarah Roy 6-3, 6-4.
Georjemah Row saw her match go the distance, only to fall by way of a super tiebreaker in the final set, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
