ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State's women's golf team shot rounds of 296 and 301 on Monday at Hot Springs Country Club to sit atop the leaderboard at its 2021 Spring Invitational.Â
The Reddies were 21-over par for the day and are six strokes in front of second-place Arkansas Tech going into the final 18 holes of play on Tuesday.
Six different Henderson players are inside the Top-10 individually after two rounds. Allie Bianchi is in sole possession of second-place after carding scores of 3-over 75 and even-par 72 on Monday. Bianchi leads the field with 29 total pars and is just one shot back of first-place.
Gracen Blount, who was the individual leader for the event after the first 18 holes, is in fifth-place after finishing the day 6-over. Blount turned in the best round of any player in the tournament with a 2-under 70 to open play. She had a team-high five birdies in 36 holes.
Hannah Choi is in sixth-place and shot rounds of 77 and 74. Choi, along with Blount, led the field on Par-3 scoring by ending Monday even on those holes. Playing as an individual, Taylor Loeb is tied for seventh with back-to-back rounds of 76 on day one. Loeb shot 3-under par on Par-5 holes on Monday.
Daphney Tilton and Karen Lee are each tied for ninth-place at 9-over for two rounds. Henderson's final individual, Kathleen Escobar, is tied for 18th and is 16-over par.
HSU is looking for its first tournament win since taking the Spring Hill Badger Invitational last February in Mobile, Alabama.Â
The Reddies will tee off the final round of play at the eight-team event tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.Â
