Arkadelphia, Ark. – Henderson State is in the midst of the its longest winning streak since 2018. The Reddies will take their five straight wins to Weatherford, Oklahoma, this weekend for a three-game series against the Southwestern Oklahoma St. Bulldogs. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Friday with game two to follow. The final game of the series is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday.
REDDIES REPORT
Henderson State broke open the scoring in its last outing against Christian Brothers after seeing a game-one win against CBU that went into extra innings. The latter game of the mid-week doubleheader showed HSU pile on 10 runs, marking the second time in three games the Reddies have brought in double-digit runs and double-digit hits.
In the five game winning streak,
Czoey White has registered at least one hit in each contest, with three multi-hit games.
Abbie Moore saw hits in all but one game as she has six hits in the last three games. Pitching has also improved as HSU has only given up 13 runs in the winning streak while seeing 20 strikeouts.
Mallory Brewer has made two appearances in the last five ballgames, throwing for 12 strikeouts, including a nine-K game against NWOSU to spearhead this string of wins. The junior pitcher from El Dorado, Arkansas, has now thrown 157 strikeouts in her career, putting her in seventh place on the HSU all-time strikeout list. Two more strikeouts this weekend will have her pass Patti Collins for sixth place and eight more will place her in the top-5.
Kailey Reese also stands with the potential to move up in the record books this weekend. Reese needs only one more triple to become the all-time leader in triples in Henderson State history. The junior outfielder is currently tied for first with eight in her career. The Rio Vista, Texas, native also finds herself eight doubles shy of moving into seventh all-time for two-base hits with her currently sitting at 21 doubles in her time at Henderson St.
Since 2012, HSU leads the series against Southwestern 21-10. It did, however, lose the last time these two teams met back in 2019 in Weatherford, 3-2, in favor of SWOSU, with the last 10 matchups having slightly gone the Bulldogs' way, 6-4. The Reddies are 1-7 on the road this year.
