REDDIES REPORT
Survive-and-advance was how Henderson left 2021 as a third-quarter, 18-point lead over the Bison this past Saturday turned into an overtime thriller, which eventually morphed into HSU's fourth conference win of the season. After being outscored 29-14 in the final 10 minutes, the Reddies won the overtime period, 17-3, to claim the 94-80 victory. Â
Â
Sonni Martin scored eight of her 13 points in overtime, including going 3-of-4 at the free-throw line in the final minute and a half to put the game away. Martin also added nine assists and five steals, both of which were career highs for the redshirt-sophomore. Five steals was the most steals by a single HSU player since the 2019-20 season.
Â
Martin has been exceptional this season in leading
Jill Thomas' squad to a 9-2 overall record as the team's starting point guard. The Jonesboro, Arkansas, native is first in the GAC with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.6. The next closest player holds a 2.2 ratio. Martin has the fewest turnovers of anyone on the list with 11 while being responsible for 40 assists.
Â
With a third of the regular season already through, the Reddies are the only team with four players among the Top-25 scorers in the entire league.
Ashley Farrar (7th) leads the offensive output with 16.5 points per game, while
Lani Snowden (17th) and
Gracie Raby (18th) each average 13.5 ppg.
Karrington Whaley rounds out the Top-25 with 11.5 ppg (25th).
Â
Henderson leads the all-time series against Northwestern Oklahoma St., 10-6, including winning the last two meetings. Whereas the Reddies are 7-3 at home in this series, they are only 3-5 on the road and have lost three of the last four in Alva. The last meeting in Alva, however, went HSU's way, 73-64, behind
Maci Mains' 17 points. Â Â Â Â Â Â

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA ST.
After starting out the season 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the GAC, Northwestern has won four straight, including three consecutive conference games, to sit at 7-5 and 3-3 in conference. This stretch of wins was highlighted by a 73-66 victory at Southern Arkansas on Dec. 30 when senior Scout Frame logged a game-high 24 points, including a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe.
Â
In the past week, Frame has scored 48 points and gone 12-13 at the free-throw line to earn the GAC's Player of the Week off of back-to-back wins at Southern Arkansas and at Arkansas-Monticello. Frame is second on the team with 12.1 points per game and is also averaging 5.7 rebounds per game.
Â
Northwestern boasts one of the best shooters in the league in senior guard Kinsey Neiderer, shooting a league-best 48.6% from deep. Neiderer is making an average of 2.9 treys per game for third-best in the GAC. Along with shooting the deep ball well, the Lady Rangers have also leaned on their defense as they are allowing only 61.4 points per game. Only Southern Nazarene is allowing fewer points per game (55.5). Â
