ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State tips off GAC action on Thursday against in-state foe Southern Arkansas at 5:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center. This is the third time in four years that the Reddies square off with the Muleriders to open conference play.

Henderson's three-game win streak came to an end against Texas Woman's University as the Pioneers got the upper hand, defeating HSU 75-66.
Ashley Farrar led the team in scoring with 23 points, while
Abbie Jiles had a team-high nine rebounds and four assists.

HSU got off to a fast start against TWU, scoring 24 points in the opening ten minutes. The Reddies cooled down in the second and third periods with 20 points total in the two quarters. The game picked up in the final ten minutes as the two sides combined for 44 points. Henderson scored 22, while TWU had 24 points.

The Reddies have two players averaging double-digit points, led by Farrar with 21.5 points a game, which is the best among individual scorers in the GAC. The senior guard has scored 129 points this season and has scored 20 in each of her last five games.
Sonni Martin picked up where she left off last season as the team's main creator, leading the team with 21 assists.

Last season the Reddies and Muleriders split their two games as both sides won their respective home game. SAU won a high-scoring affair in the first meeting, 112-99. In the second game, Henderson bounced back at home, defeating Southern Arkansas 96-72. Current Reddies Farrar scored 33 points, while
Gracie Raby had 25 in the two games.

Henderson leads the all-time matchup 61-50-1 against Southern Arkansas heading into the 113th meeting. HSU has won five home games in a row against SAU, including the last meeting between the two sides.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
The Muleriders finished the 2021-22 season tenth in the GAC standings with a 13-15 record. Through the first four games, Southern Arkansas is 2-2. In the Muleriders' two wins, the team has scored 100 points in each game. SAU fell in its last game to the University of Texas at Tyler in an overtime thriller, 71-65.

Diamond Morris has a team-high 49 points, averaging 12.3 a game, while the team shoots 38% from the field and 33% from deep. In the loss to UT Tyler, Morris paced the team with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists.
SAU is averaging 41 attempts from the three-point line a game, which is the most among any Division II school. The Muleriders lead the GAC in triples made with 55, averaging 13.8 a game. This season, SAU has attempted 164 three-pointers in just four games. Â Â
