Tennis Begins 2022 Spring Season Against Delta

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State women's tennis team begins its 2022 spring season with three matches in three days, beginning Friday, Feb. 11 against Delta State at 1 p.m. The Reddies will face Angelo State exactly 24 hours later and finish off the three-game slate with Mississippi College Sunday Feb. 13 at 9 a.m.

REDDIES REPORT
Of the seven-woman squad that makes up the HSU tennis team, six of them are returners while bringing in newcomer Danna Nuñez from Oranjestad, Aruba. Last year's team saw its first GAC Tournament victory since 2017 and only its second tournament victory in the history of the league after blanketing Southern Arkansas, 4-0.

Of those returners are the Reddies' No. 1, 2 & 4 singles players from a year ago, along with their No. 3 doubles team duo. Mulan Kamoe and Georjemah Row highlight the returners, as Kamoe played at the No. 1 spot in every match last season, holding a 6-6 record, while Row sat at the No. 2 position with a team-best 8-4 record.

Kamoe, a junior from Nasoso Nadi, Fiji, is ranked as the No. 14 singles player in the region while the tandem of Kamoe and Row, a junior from Honiara, Solomon Islands, is ranked 10th in the region.

Henderson is currently sporting a three-match winning streak over the Lady Statesmen of Delta St., yet trail the all-time series, 4-3. Last year's victory over DSU showed Kamoe and Vinda Teally overcome a first-set loss to win their respective singles matches after HSU swept doubles play to give the Reddies the overall nod, 4-3.

In the following matches, Henderson will face Angelo St. in only the third ever meeting between the two programs. In the inaugural match, the Rambelles got after the Reddies back in 2018, winning 9-0. Henderson has seen a bit more luck against Mississippi College, at least lately, having beaten the Lady Choctaws in the most recent match, 4-3, back in 2020, while MC holds the all-time series, 3-1.
