HSU Gears Up For Trip to Alva Versus Northwestern

GAME COVERAGE LINKS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Off its mid-week split against Union, Henderson State will return to conference play when it takes the long trek to Alva, Oklahoma, for a three-game weekend series against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Friday will hold the doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. with game three Saturday at 11 a.m.

REDDIES REPORT
Abbie Moore led all Reddies at the plate Wednesday, going 4-for-7 with three RBIs and four runs, including hitting her sixth home run of the season in the first game, which showed to be the difference in the 4-2 victory. Madison Treutlein also held her own, going 4-for-7 as well, seeing two RBIs in the day's contests.

Erika Bittinger (3-3) saw a perfect game through five innings in game one against Union as she went on to pitch her first complete seven innings, allowing only three hits and two runs with zero walks. The freshman from Bismarck, Arkansas, leads the HSU pitching staff with only 17 walks in 46 innings of work.

With her fifth and sixth multi-hit game of the season, tied for second on the team, Treutlein leads the clubhouse with a .386 batting average, followed by Justine Burch at .352 after going 2-for-4 Wednesday. Burch and Moore are tied for the team-lead in hits (25).

Since winning the season-opening conference series over Southern Nazarene, the Reddies have dropped seven of their last eight GAC contests. With both Henderson and Northwestern 3-8 in league play, HSU will look to pick up some wins and improve its conference standing.

Henderson St. holds a six game winning streak over the Lady Rangers and lead the series since 2014, 20-7. This weekend will be the first time the Reddies have played NWOSU in Alva since 2018 where the squads split the four-game series at two games apiece.

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA ST.
Northwestern comes into this weekend looking to snap a five game losing streak, three of which have come at home. The Lady Rangers are 4-3 in Alva and 2-3 at home in conference play. With four wins at home this season, NWOSU has already surpassed their home-win total from each of the last two seasons.

Senior Abby Detar holds one of the best batting averages in the GAC at .414, pacing NWOSU with 29 hits, 21 runs and 54 total bases in 21 games played. The Lady Rangers boast four other players who are hitting .323 or better on the season. Mackenzie Adams and Jayden Solberg match Detar with five home runs.

Junior pitcher Hannah Howell has pitched 65.2 innings while holding a 5.35 ERA. Howell has more strikeouts than the next three Northwestern pitchers combined with 42. Behind Howell is Hannah Scoggin, with a 9.84 ERA in 39.1 innings pitched, and Allie Hufford, who has an 8.44 ERA in 21.1 innings of work.
