ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Carrying a .500 GAC record at 3-3, Henderson State will play a conference mid-week doubleheader against Ouachita Baptist across the street at Sully Anderson Field Wednesday, Mar. 9 beginning at 3 p.m. in the season's first softball edition of the Battle of the Ravine.

REDDIES REPORT
After falling in the first two games of the weekend series against Arkansas-Monticello, the Reddies defeated the Blossoms in the final game, 5-3, as
Savannah Carrigan claimed her first win of the season, followed by
Erika Bittinger getting her first save of her career. Both
Abbie Moore and
Bre Jones registered two RBIs.

Savannah Hughes,
Justine Burch and
Crysta Larey each delivered at least one hit in all three games of the series. Hughes boasted the best batting average of the weekend, going 5-of-8 (.625) for two runs and one RBI. Larey went 4-8 (.500) and two RBIs while Burch went 3-7 (.429) with one RBI.

Abbie Moore continues to lead the team at the plate with a .340 batting average, followed by
Brooke Johnson at .333. With each player having played in 18 of HSU's 21 games this season, Moore leads the squad with four homeruns, Johnson is seeing a team-high 18 hits, and both Moore and Johnson lead the clubhouse with 13 RBIs.

Henderson has won four games this season by three runs or less, as
Erika Bittinger,
Savannah Carrigan and
Krystal Lindsey each have picked up a save through 21 games, making it three total saves for the HSU pitching staff so far. In a 44-game season last year, the Reddies only claimed one save out of its bullpen.

The last time that two cross-street rivals played at Sully Anderson Field, Henderson came away with the 1-0 victory.
Monica Monreal scored the lone run of the contest, along with delivering one of HSU's four hits on the day. Since 2012, the Reddies lead the series over the Tigers, 21-15. Â Â

SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST
This will be the third GAC team Ouachita Baptist (5-14, 1-5) has played on its home field this season. The Tigers have lost five of their last six outings, getting swept by Oklahoma Baptist before taking the final contest of a three-game weekend series against Harding. On the season, OBU is 5-10 at Sully Anderson Field.

After missing the first four games of the season, sophomore outfielder Hope Waid returning to the lineup has been a welcomed sight for Tigers fans. Waid is leading OBU with a .365 batting average while also leading all batters with 19 hits and 12 runs. The only other Ouachita batter to carry an above-.300 batting average is senior Callie Jourdan (.354).

The Tigers' pitching staff is led by the right arm of senior pitcher Madison Miller. The Nashville, Arkansas, native boasts a 2.39 ERA, while having struck out 45 batters in 52.2 innings of work, with opposing batters only hitting .232 against her. Miller was named the GAC Pitcher of the Week back on Feb. 22.
