RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - No. 1 overall seed
Mulan Kamoe won the Flight 1 Singles Title at the GAC Individual Championships to highlight Henderson State's two-day stay in Russellville.
Jenna Kate Bohnert appeared in two title matches, playing in the Flight 4 Singles Final before joining doubles teammate
Angela Georgieva in the Flight 2 Doubles Title Match, finishing as Runner-Up in both instances.
Kamoe, after receiving a first-round bye as the top seed, won her semifinal match against Southern Arkansas' Greta Wallin yesterday, 6-3, 6-0, to earn a bid into the finals. Kamoe handled Harding's Karli Roux in similar fashion, taking the title in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Kristina Kozlova won the consolation final in Flight 2 of singles play. After falling in the opening round to the eventual Runner-Up, Kozlova tore through the consolation bracket, winning her final match, 4-2, 4-2 over top-seeded Annika Berrendorf of Southern Arkansas.
The aforementioned Georgieva matched Kozlova by winning the Flight 3 consolation final over Ouachita Baptist's Natalia Zamora. Georgieva used a marathon semifinal victory in the consolation bracket, downing Harding's Madison Stafford in a third set, 10-point super tiebreaker, 1-4, 4-2, 14-12.
Rounding out Singles play,
Tirzah Bailey reached the Flight 6 semifinals while
Lily Winter made her way to the Flight 7 consolation final.
Kamoe joined up Kozlova in Doubles play to make the Flight 1 semifinals before winning the consolation final over Austynn Crocker and Sadbaroy Kholdarova, 7-6 (7-5).
Haarini Balakrishnan and
Marianna Murcia, similar to Bohnert and Georgieva, reached the Flight 3 Finals.
The GAC Individual Championships marks the end of fall competition for Henderson State women's tennis as they will return in February for their spring championship season.
