FINAL PLAYER LEADERBOARD
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - After coming into the day with a six-stroke lead, the No. 6 Henderson State women's golf team held off second-place Southwestern Oklahoma State by two strokes to win the 2023 Battle for the Belt with a 54-hole score of 17-over 881.
The Reddies shot 4-over par on the final day, just good enough to hang on to the top spot thanks to
Allie Bianchi, who won her first tournament of the fall season with a final-round 3-under 69. Bianchi finished her last Battle for the Belt at 1-under 215 - the only player in the entire field to finish below par - as her 3-under 69 was the best final round of anyone in the 43-player field.
Bianchi, who was trailing by one stroke on the individual leaderboard coming into the day, quickly moved up with back-to-back birdies on her first two holes. The Allen, Texas, native proceeded to play 1-under golf on the remaining 16 holes, seeing a total of five birdies to just two bogeys.
Three other Reddies finished inside the Top-10, beginning with
Daphney Tilton, who finished in eighth with a 5-over 221 after carding a 1-under 71 on the final 18.
Jinna Boonbumroongsuk placed ninth at 7-over 223 while
Felisa Sajulga finished in a tie for 10th at 9-over 225.
Texas Permian-Basin transfer
Kayla Perera, playing in her first event as a Reddie, finished 13th with a 13-over 229. After opening the event with a 9-over 81, Perera carded back-to-back rounds of 2-over 74.
Emmie Eriksson rounded out the Reddies with her 19-over 235 for a spot at 22nd.
No. 6 Henderson State will remain in Arkadelphia for a week before making its longest trip of the season to Farmington, Pennsylvania, for the Nemacolin Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Findlay Oct. 23-24.
