Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Seventh at Southern Invite

SPRING, Texas — Henderson State finished tied for seventh Tuesday at Cypresswood Golf Club, posting a 54-over 918 in a field stacked with nationally ranked programs.

The Reddies closed with a round of 309 to tie with Missouri-St. Louis at 54-over. Henderson State placed ahead of several Great American Conference foes, including Southern Arkansas and Oklahoma Baptist. HSU finished first among the four participating GAC schools.


No. 6 UT Tyler claimed the team title at 18-over 882 behind individual medalist Lucy Kate Smith, who finished at 2-over for the tournament. No. 2 DBU took second at 32-over, followed by No. 18 St. Mary's (TX) at 43-over. No. 31 Rogers State and No. 29 Midwestern State rounded out the top five.


Lily Nelson paced Henderson State with an 8-over total of 224, tying for 10th overall in the 80-player field. Nelson opened with a 71 and followed with a 73 before carding an 80 in the final round.


Isabella Ferreira tied for 32nd at 15-over 231 after rounds of 75, 78, and 78. Paulina Narvaez matched Ferreira's steady play, tying for 35th at 16-over 232. Narvaez shot 76, 79, and 77 across three rounds.


Lora Jones finished tied for 52nd at 20-over 236. Jones rebounded from an opening 86 with rounds of 76 and 74 over the final two days. Hailey Coleman placed 67th at 28-over 244.
