COVERAGE LINKS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State women's basketball looks to extend its win streak to three when they host the Gorillas of Pittsburg State on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

REDDIES REPORT
HSU improved to 3-1 on the year after a 69-56 win over Northeastern State, which saw the Reddies hold off a late Riverhawk rally in the fourth period. After NSU got within six points of Henderson in the final two minutes of the fourth period, the Reddies's defense clamped down, holding the Riverhawks scoreless for the remainder of the game to hold onto the win.

After seeing a career-high 22 points against Delta State, Olivia Allen recorded her second straight double-digit game with a team-high 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor versus NSU. The Batesville, Ark. native is one of four players averaging ten points per game with 12.3 points a contest, while Ashley Farrar continues to lead the team in scoring with 18.5 points after a 14-point outing against the Riverhawks.

Joining Farrar and Allen in double-figure points is Tori Gittens. The Charleston Southern transfer is second on the team in scoring with 16.3 points per game and has knocked down a team-high 12 triples on 19 attempts. Gittens ranks fourth across the league in shooting, converting 62.2 percent from the field and 63.2 percent from deep this season.

Through four games, Henderson is averaging 80.8 points per game and is shooting 42.7 percent from the floor and 36.3 percent from the three-point line. At the glass, the Reddies have 144 rebounds on the year, led by Makenna Winans and Gittens with 22 and 19, respectively. Winans is averaging 5.5 rebounds a game and leads the team with seven offensive rebounds after recording two against NSU.

Henderson State will look for its first win over Pittsburg State in Wednesday's contests as the Gorillas lead the series 2-0. This is the first meeting between the two sides since 2014 when Pitt State defeated the Reddies 77-50 in the Duke Wells Center.

SCOUTING PITTSBURG STATE
Pittsburg State is off to a 3-0 start to begin the season after an 88-86 win over Arkansas Tech last timeout. Like the Reddies, Pitt State opened the year with the GAC/MIAA Conference Challenge, where they got a pair of wins, defeating Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State. Before taking on HSU Wednesday, the Gorillas will first face Ouachita Baptist Tuesday.

Pitt State has three players averaging over ten points a game, led by guard Grace Pyle with 19.7 points, and is shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 29.0 percent from deep on 30 attempts. Pyle has recorded back-to-back 20-point games, including a 27-point outing against Arkansas Tech. Rounding out the offense, Karenna Gerber and Macie Mays are seeing 13.7 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.

Picking out the open players around the basket for the Gorillas is sophomore guard Harper Schreiner, who leads the team with 17 assists. The Eudora, Kan. native also paces the side in rebounding with 24 boards after recording eight against ATU. Most recently, Schreiner dished out a season-high seven assists in the win over Arkansas Tech and added 13 points to her totals for her first double-digit point game of the season.
