HOUSTON – No. 6 Henderson State wrapped up the Houston Classic tied in fifth place after jumping two spots on the final day, finishing with a 32-over 896 score across three rounds.
HSU had the best finish among the six GAC teams taking part in the tournament. The Reddies finished one stroke better than Harding and two ahead of Southern Arkansas, who finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
Miller Harris was the only Reddie to place in the top 20, finishing tied for 17th. Harris recorded the best individual score on the team across three rounds, finishing the Houston Classic 5-over 221. The Carthage, Texas native tallied three birdies on the second day and shot an even-par.
Just behind Harris,
Brady Perkins shot 3-over in round three and finished tied for 22
nd with a final score of 7-over 223. Both Perkins and Harris had a team-high eight birdies over the two days of competition.
Nathan Cossement ended the day 11-over par and had a final score of 14-over 230, while
Alex Hadden finished the tournament 15-over 231.
Jacob Knowlton struggled early on day two but turned it around, recording four birdies on his last nine holes to finish the day 3-over par. The Cabot, Ark. closed out the tournament 17-over 233.
No. 6 Henderson returns to action next month with the UAFS Invitational on Monday, March 6 in Fort Smith, Ark.
