Reddies Look for Season Sweep Over SWOSU Thursday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson makes its last trip to the Sooner State this year when they travel to Weatherford to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
 
REDDIES REPORT
Henderson (12-9, 9-6) got revenge against Oklahoma Baptist 68-56 after falling to the Bison early this season. The Reddies came out hot in the first period scoring 22 points while holding the Bison to eight. From then on, HSU held a double-digit lead for most of the game on its way to a ninth GAC win.   
 
Abbie Jiles posted her seventh consecutive game with double-digit points, scoring 17 versus the Bison. This season, the Searcy, Ark. native has scored ten or more points in 16 outings and is averaging 12.4 a game. Eryka Patton made her second start of the season against OKBU and led the team at the glass with seven rebounds and had a season-high nine points.
 
With seven games left in the season, HSU is tied with OBKU in fourth after its latest win. Just ahead of Henderson is Arkansas Tech in third place, who has a one-game advantage over the Reddies but still has to visit the Duke Wells Center later this month.
 
The last time Henderson was in the Sooner State, the team went 2-0, defeating East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State. Against Oklahoma opposition this season, the Reddies have a winning record with five wins and three defeats.    
 
Henderson dominated the first matchup against Southwestern Oklahoma State, beating SWOSU by 20 points, 85-65, inside the Duke Wells Center. The Reddies outscored the Lady Bulldogs 49 to 34 in the second half, including a 29-point fourth period. The win over SWOSU in the first meeting was Henderson's first win over the Lady Bulldogs since 2016.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
Southwestern Oklahoma State (6-14, 6-9) has lost its last six games versus opponents from the Natural State, including a 61-50 defeat to Arkansas-Monticello in its previous game. SWOSU has six wins on the season, with all its victories coming against Great American Conference teams.  
 
Averi Zinn and Morgan Smith are the Lady Bulldogs' top scorers and have both received GAC Player of the Week Awards this season. Zinn is averaging a team-high 15.3 points a game and is shooting 38.6 percent from the field. Smith is the team's second-leading scorer with 13.7 points a contest and is the team's top three-point shooter.
 
SWOSU has four players with 20 or more steals, led by Zinn, who has a team-high 45. In addition, the Lady Bulldogs rank first in the GAC with the best turnover margin (5.10) and turn the ball over the fewest amount of times per game (13.1).
