HSU Preps for Showdown Against Rival Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State softball team will look to bounce back on its return to Dee White Field when rival Ouachita Baptist visit on Tuesday, Mar. 14. First-pitch for the opening game of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m.
 
REDDIES REPORT
HSU accumulated eight hits across the three contests against No. 14 Southern Arkansas, led by Josie Copeland, who was three-of-four at the plate with a pair of RBIs. The Reddies are now 3-6 in GAC play after the loss to the Muleriders and 11-14 overall.  
 
Brooke Johnson and Meagan Allen made multiple appearances in the weekend series, with Johnson getting the start in game one. The Rockwall, Texas native pitched three and two-thirds of an inning across two games, while Allen went five frames. This season, batters are hitting .262 against Johnson and .272 when Allen is in the circle.
 
Abbie Moore has done it all at the plate this season, leading the team with five home runs and 17 RBIs while hitting .348. The North Richland Hills, Texas went 2-8 in the batter's box in the three games against Southern Arkansas and also had four putouts.

Despite struggling to get on base, Kaitlyn O'Quinn is reaching the bag on 40.0 percent of her at-bats. The only other player with a better on-base percentage is Copeland, who is reaching 45.1 percent of her plate appearances. 
 
The Reddies lead the all-time series against Ouachita Baptist 44-35, but the Tigers had the upper hand last year with two wins and only one loss in the three meetings. The most recent contest went HSU's way with a 5-2 win, featuring a home run off Brooke Johnson's bat over the center field wall at Dee White Field.
 
SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST
The Tigers snapped a seven-game losing streak, taking a game from Arkansas Tech in their most recent series. Ouachita Baptist enters the game 3-6 in conference play with a series win over Southwestern Oklahoma State before falling to Arkansas-Monticello (3-0) and ATU (2-1).
 
OUA has leaned on pitcher Tuesday Melton this season, who has pitched 76.2 innings and has made 16 appearances. Batters are hitting .337 against the sophomore on 338 at-bats while giving up 114 hits and 71 runs.
 
Erin Williams leads the Ouachita Baptist bats with 27 hits and has four doubles, four home runs and 11 runs batted in. As a team, the Tigers are hitting .281 across 24 games with 173 hits - 43 being extra-base hits.
