Reddies Travel to Ada for Matchup Against East Central

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State softball team makes its first trip to the Sooner State this season to face East Central in a weekend series beginning Saturday, Mar. 25, with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
 
REDDIES REPORT
Henderson dropped the series against Southeastern Oklahoma State last time out but was able to secure a 6-4 victory in the final contest of the three-game series. HSU logged 17 hits across the weekend and hit .236 as a team, led by Abbie Moore, with four hits and two runs batted in.  
 
The Reddies are hitting .254 through 30 games, led by Kaitlyn O'Quinn with a .360 batting average, and has a team-high 32 hits. The Coppell, Texas native finished the week with six hits across five games, recording two RBIs and scoring four runs. O'Quinn is the only player for HSU to play and start in all 30 games this season.  
 
Brooke Johnson and Meagan Allen have seen the bulk of the action in the circle this year, as both players have pitched over 40 innings. Johnson made two appearances on the rubber against SE and went 11.0 frames, including a complete game in the third contest, while Allen went one and one-third over two games.  
 
Last year, East Central took the series from Henderson State after the Reddies opened the three-game slate with a 6-5 victory. ECU responded by winning the second game 2-0, followed by a 9-8 win in extra innings. Madison Treutlein led the bats across the series, recording five hits on ten at-bats with one RBI and scoring a run.
 
SCOUTING EAST CENTRAL
The Tigers ride a three-game win streak into the series against Henderson State after sweeping Midwestern State in the midweek. In ECU's most recent GAC action, East Central took down Ouachita Baptist in two games to improve to 8-6 in conference play.
 
Gabi Quintanilla and Elyse LeClair lead the Tiger's bats with 26 and 25 hits, respectively. Quintanilla is hitting .366 this season with 11 runs driven in and has three extra-base hits, while LeClair is batting .291 with 15 RBIs and five doubles. As a team, ECU ranks eighth in the GAC in batting, hitting .260 on 158 hits.
 
In the circle, East Central's ace Taia Harris leads the team with 54 strikeouts in 48.0 innings of work, while batters are hitting .231 against the senior. Partnering Harris on the rubber is Taryn O'Brien, who has a 2.98 ERA in 56.1 frames and has 32 punch outs while only walking 19 batters.
