Mulan Kamoe swept last year's Great American Conference Player of the Year in both doubles and singles action Saturday night. Despite the dominance from HSU's top player, the Reddies fell in the overall match to Arkansas Tech in non-conference action, 4-3.

Henderson won the doubles point, getting wins at No. 1 and No. 3. After
Marianna Murcia and
Tirzah Bailey won at No. 3, 6-2, the central region's preseason No. 7 doubles team Kamoe and
Kristina Kozlova, in their second match as partners, improved to 2-0 at the top line with a 6-4 win over the Player of the Year in 2022, Lea Grinberg, and Daniela Baez, who were tabbed as the No. 6 doubles team in the Central Region in the preseason, to clinch the doubles point.

With three singles victories standing in the way of taking the match, Kamoe got the first win at the top spot over Grinberg, who was the No. 16 singles player in the singles in the region, for the second time of the day, 6-3, 6-3. Tech earned points at Nos. 4-6 to tie the match at 3-3 with still two to play.

Haarini Balakrishnan won her first set at No. 5, 6-1, but was unable to hold onto the advantage as Sofia Beggiatto claimed the next two sets for the three-set victory. With the match already decided, Kozlova won at No. 2 over preseason region No. 19 Daniela Baez, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 10-8.
