ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Great American Conference action resumes for Henderson State as the team gets set for a trip to Magnolia, Ark. to face No. 14 Southern Arkansas in a three-game series, beginning Friday, Mar. 10 at 4 p.m.
The Reddies will wrap up the weekend with a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m.
REDDIES REPORT
HSU got two wins over Arkansas Baptist in the midweek, defeating the Buffalos 6-1 in the first contest and 10-2 in the second game after six innings. The Reddies improved to 11-11 after the pair of victories.
Kaitlyn O'Quinn was perfect at the plate with five hits and three RBIs against the Buffalos and continues to lead the team in hits (26) and batting average (.382). In addition,
Madison Treutlein had her best outings of the season, recording seven RBIs and four hits across the two games.
Katelyn McMahan logged a season-high five punch outs in her one appearance and went 1-3 at the plate with three RBIs across the two outings. The Central Arkansas transfer has a team-best 2.10 ERA with 16 strikeouts and is hitting over .300 with 14 RBIs. McMahan has been a part of the weekend rotation that features
Meagan Allen and
Brooke Johnson.
In last year's series, Henderson fell to the Muleriders at home 2-1 after winning the second game of the series to force a rubber match. SAU went on to win the final contest 8-0 to take the series and leads the all-time matchup 54-38.
SCOUTING NO. 14 SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
The Muleriders (15-7, 3-3) are on a five-game skid after being swept by No. 13 Harding last weekend and Mississippi College in the midweek.
Two-time GAC Player of the Week Alyssa Miller leads SAU with a batting average of .420 and has 29 hits and 12 RBIs. Miller has eight multi-hit games, including a 4-4 outing against William Jewell earlier in the season.
SAU's Sydney Ward has pitched a team-high 68.2 innings to start the season, recording 53 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.55. Partnering Ward in the circle is Baylie Thornhill, who has 36 punch outs in 41.0 innings of work.
