CABOT, Ark. – The No. 20 Henderson State men's golf team concluded the regular season with a first-place finish at the Natural State Classic after scoring a 5-over 869 across 54 holes. On the day, the Reddies shot 6-under par as a team, led by
Miller Harris, who shot 5-under.
Two other Great American Conference teams rounded out the top three, as Southern Arkansas finished in second with a 25-over 889 and Harding placed third with a score of 31-over 895.
Alex Hadden went bogey-free on the front nine and had five birdies before adding one more on the back nine to end day two 3-under 69. The sophomore from Eminence, Kentucky led the 59-player field with the lowest score across three rounds, carding a 2-under 214. Hadden also led the field of play with 15 birdies across 54 holes.
Harris jumped eight spots on the player leaderboard in the final round after carding a 5-under 67 to improve his overall score to even-par 216, finishing tied for 3rd. Harris recorded five birdies and one eagle on the final 18 holes.
Ethan Wilkins matched Harris, logging five birdies and an eagle in the final round of play to end the day 1-under 71. Across three rounds, the Sussex, Wisconsin native shot 5-over 221 to finish tied for 6th.
Nathan Cossement shot 3-over 75 in the third round and ended with an overall score of 8-over 224.
Rounding out the team, five-bag
Cooper Williams shot 14-over par in the third round and finished 19-over 235, while individual
Brady Perkins finished tied for 50
th with a score of 23-over 239.
The Reddies ended the regular season with nine top-five placements, including six first-place finishes heading into post-season play. Up next for No. 20 HSU is the GAC Tournament at Hot Springs Country Club on Apr. 23-25. Round one of the conference tournament starts on Sunday, Apr. 23.
