HSU Hosts No. 21 Oklahoma Baptist, Senior Day Saturday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State returns home for the final home GAC series of the season, as the team hosts league leaders No. 21 Oklahoma Baptist at Dee White Field. HSU begins the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 22, starting at 12 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
Before the first pitch of game one on Saturday, the Reddies will honor seniors Crysta Larey, Abbie Moore, Kaitlyn O'Quinn and Lexi Trejo.
 
REDDIES REPORT (18-25, 10-17)
Henderson dropped two games against Southern Nazarene but got a 5-3 win in the final contest of the series to avoid a sweep. HSU recorded 22 hits and nine runs over the weekend but struggled in the circle, allowing 16 runs on 24 hits.  
 
O'Quinn continues her hot streak at the plate, finishing the series against SNU 7-9 with two runs scored and a stolen base. The Coppell, Texas native is batting .394 this season, which is third-best in the GAC. O'Quinn is one of three HSU players hitting over .300 this season, with Moore and Katelyn McMahan batting .345 and .314, respectively.  

Miyah Jackson returned to the Reddies lineup after being injured and had two hits across the final two games. In game two of the series, the Mansfield, Texas native had a solo shot in the fourth inning, followed by a grand slam in the third game. Jackson now has three home runs on seven hits this season.
 
In the 29th matchup between Henderson State and Oklahoma Baptist, the series is tied 14-14, heading into the weekend series. Most recently, the series has favored the Bison, who have won the last three meetings.
 
SCOUTING NO. 21 OKLAHOMA BAPTIST (37-9, 22-5)
The Bison enter the weekend series against Henderson State on an 11-game win streak after sweeping Ouachita Baptist in their most recent outing. Oklahoma Baptist is first in the league standings with 22 GAC wins and has already clinched a spot in the conference tournament.
 
OKBU has dominated all season in the circle, led by one of the best pitchers across D2 in Kayleigh Jones. Jones is averaging 10.1 punchouts per seven innings and is second in the nation in strikeouts with 268. The six-time GAC Pitcher of the Week has a conference-low 0.76 ERA in 185.1 innings of work and has thrown ten complete game shutouts.  
 
At the dish, the Bison are led by Emily Adler, who is batting .421 and leads the conference with 59 hits. Adler went three for seven at the plate against Ouachita Baptist with an RBI and three runs scored while also going 1-2 on stolen bags.
