HSU Closes Out Regular Season at Southwestern Oklahoma State

COVERAGE LINKS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State finishes the regular season with a GAC series on the road in Weatherford, Okla. against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Apr. 29-30. Game one will start on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT (18-28, 10-20)
Kaitlyn O'Quinn is having one of her best seasons at the plate in a Reddie uniform, as the Coppell, Texas native leads the team in hits (52), batting average (.388) and on-base percentage (.443). The senior's 52 hits are the most recorded in a season for O'Quinn, passing her previous best of 47 in 2021.

Abbie Moore will finish as one of the biggest bats for HSU with a team-high ten home runs, which is second-best in the GAC. The North Richland Hills, Texas native recently moved into third all-time in homers after reaching 30 career home runs earlier this season. Brooke Johnson has also shown her power at the plate, hitting five big flies this season, second only to Moore.

The Reddies are still in the hunt for a spot in the conference tournament but will need a few things to happen to secure the eighth seed. A series win over SWOSU plus an Arkansas-Monticello sweep against East Central would allow HSU to jump ECU in the standings and claim the final spot in the GAC Tournament.

HSU leads the all-time matchup against Southwestern Oklahoma State, 27-14, and has won the last two series, including a 2-1 series win in Weatherford two seasons ago. In last year's contests, Justine Burch went three-for-five at the dish in game three and would finish the series with two runs scored off four hits.

SCOUTING SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE (10-39, 5-25)
SWOSU comes into the series against Henderson on a six-game losing streak after falling to Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello in its last two series. The Bulldog's previous win was a midweek victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State 9-5 earlier this month.

Jordyn Wadley and Maddie Rahon lead the team at the plate with 13 and 11 extra-base hits, respectively. Wadley has nine doubles and is tied for a team-high four home runs, while Rahon leads the team with 11 doubles. The Bulldogs are batting .233 through 49 games, led by Rahon, hitting .342 with a team-best 53 hits.
