2023 All-GAC SOFTBALL TEAMS

RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – The Henderson State softball team had four players named to the All-GAC teams the league announced Wednesday.

Third baseman
Abbie Moore and center fielder
Kaitlyn O'Quinn were named First-Team All-GAC, while utility pitcher
Brooke Johnson and outfielder
Katelyn McMahan received Honorable Mentions.
Moore was one of the top home run hitters in the league during the regular season, hitting a career-high 12 homers, which was the second most in the GAC. The North Richland Hills, Texas native ranks 13th among the top batters in the conference, batting .350, and leads the league in slugging percentage (.707). Moore racked up a team-best 36 RBIs and 14 doubles across 48 games.

O'Quinn had her best season in the red-and-gray, leading the Reddies with a .377 batting average and a team-high 55 hits. The senior center fielder had 17 multi-hit games, including a five-game stretch where she had two or more in each game. In addition, O'Quinn went 21-24 for stolen bases and finished the regular season second in the conference in stolen bags.

Moore and O'Quinn were the only two batters to hit over .300 for the season, followed closely by McMahan who hit .298.

Sophomore utility pitcher Johnson pitched a team-high 86.2 innings and led the team with a 4.15 ERA and 58 punchouts. The Rockwall, Texas native finished the season with seven wins and threw five complete games, including one shutout. At the plate, Johnson batted in 23 runs on 26 hits and recorded five home runs.

In her first season, McMahan was the team's third most productive hitter at the plate behind Moore and O'Quinn, with 36 hits and 21 runs batted in. The University of Central Arkansas transfer also made 13 appearances in the circle, pitching 30.1 innings and recording 18 strikeouts.
