No. 6 HSU in First After Shooting 5-Under on Back Nine

DAY ONE TEAM LEADERBOARD | DAY ONE PLAYER LEADERBOARD

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - All five Reddies shot either at or under par during their back nine of the opening round of the Central Region Preview as the No. 6 Henderson State women's golf team is in first after 18 holes with a team score of 1-under 287.

Central Missouri is in second at 2-over 290 while Northeastern State and Augustana are in third and fourth at 9-over 297 and 10-over 298, respectively. At last year's Central Region Championships, Augustana held the lead with one round remaining before HSU claimed its second consecutive Central Region Championship.

Starting out on hole 10, all five HSU competitors delivered a combined eight birdies on their back nine while suffering just three bogeys. Only five of the other 94 individuals saw three or fewer bogeys for their entire round.

Allie Bianchi, after being named the Great American Conference Golfer of the Week after HSU's inaugural tournament of the new season, carded a 3-under 69 in the opening round to sit atop the 99-player field. Bianchi recorded four birdies to just one bogey as she claimed her fifth round in the 60s of her collegiate career.

Jinna Boonbumroongsuk and Daphney Tilton both placed inside the top five after day one with rounds of even-par 72. Both Boonbumroongsuk and Tilton also recorded 72s on their opening round of the DBU Women's Classic to open the 2023 fall season.

Felisa Sajulga finished her first 18 in a tie for 12th with a 2-over 74 while Emmie Eriksson is tied for 36th with a 6-over 78. Eriksson had the third best back-nine of the red-and-gray's five-bag with a 1-under 35, behind only Boonbumroongsuk and Tilton's 2-under 34s.

No. 6 Henderson State will look to capture its first win of the 2023 fall season as it takes its three stroke lead into the final round of the Central Region Preview at the Par 72, 5928-yard Hillcrest Country Club.
