ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State returns to the Duke Wells Center on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m. to host the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
REDDIES REPORT
Henderson State (8-6, 4-4) led most of the game against No. 12 Northwestern Oklahoma State, but a 28-14 fourth period by the Lady Rangers would be the difference maker in HSU's 64-55 defeat. The Reddies were held to 17.6 percent shooting in the final period and shot 29 percent for the game from the field and beyond the arc.
Ashley Farrar posted her second 20-point game in the last three contests, recording a team-high 22 points against Northwestern. The Green Forest, Ark. native has been red-hot from beyond the arc in her previous three outings, shooting 56.2 percent (9-16) from deep after going 3-of-6 last time out. Farrar's 34-point week brings her to 1636 career points and closes the gap to the HSU points record held by Lena Womack (1647) to just 11 points.
Three-point shooting has been a staple of the Reddies scoring this season, as they lead the conference in made three-point shots (125) and three-point shooting percentage (36.0). When HSU has reached double-figure triples in a game this year, they are 6-1 compared to just 1-5 when held under this mark.
Tori Gittens helps lead the three-point efforts, shooting a GAC second-best 51.7 percent from beyond the arc, and has 31 triples on the year.
Bobbi Bazzle continues to lead the Reddies at the glass after grabbing six rebounds against NWOSU. The Woodlands, Texas native is averaging a team-best 5.8 rebounds per game and is joined by
Makenna Winans (4.8) in the top 25 in rebounds per contest in the GAC. As a team, HSU is fifth in the conference with 38.4 boards per game but is 11
th in opponent rebounding, giving up 41.2 boards per outing.
Last season, Henderson swept Southeastern Oklahoma State in the series to extend its win streak over the Savage Storm to four. Farrar paced the scoring over the two contests with a combine 45 points and had 19 rebounds. HSU leads the head-to-head record 16-12 and is 8-2 in the last ten games, as well as 4-0 at home.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
Southeastern Oklahoma State is still searching for its first conference win this season after falling to Arkansas-Monticello 59-56 at home. The Savage Storm opened the season 4-1 but have since lost nine consecutive games to sit 4-10 overall and 0-8 in GAC play.
In SE's last four contests, the Savage Storm have been held to less than 60 points, which sees them rank 12
th in scoring with 59.7 points per game. Southeastern has five players averaging 6.0 points per game or better, led by Caitlyn Kobiske with 15.5 points per game and is the only player averaging double-digit points. Holli Lindley follows close behind with 8.9 points and shoots a team-high 46.4 percent from the field.
The duo also leads the team at the glass, with Lindley seeing 6.5 rebounds per game and Kobiske averaging 6.4 boards. Southeastern ranks eighth among the GAC in rebounding with 36.5 boards and is fourth in defensive rebounds, allowing opponents 27.5. Additionally, the Savage Storm are the most efficient team at the free-throw line, converting a league-high 78.1 percent (207-265).
