Farrar Named GAC Player of the Week for the Second Time

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After helping Henderson State to wins over Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central, Ashley Farrar is tabbed GAC Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday. 

Farrar finished the week's two games with 45 points on 48.0 percent shooting (12-25), adding 11 rebounds and three assists. The Green Forest, Ark. native went 3-of-8 from the three-point line and was an efficient 18-for-22 at the free-throw line.

The win over Southeastern Oklahoma State was a special night for Farrar as she became the program's leading scorer, reaching 1659 career points and passing Reddies legend Lena Womack (1647). The Green Forest, Ark. native finished the game with 23 points on 46.2 percent shooting (6-12) and added four rebounds and an assist.

In the following game against East Central, the Green Forest High School product led the team with 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting (50.0 percent) and was efficient from the charity stripe, going 9-of-10. Farrar also provided a strong presence at the glass with seven rebounds, including five offensive boards.

Through the halfway point of the season, Farrar leads the team in scoring and is the second-highest scorer in the GAC with 18.7 points per game. The graduate guard leads the top three-point shooting team in the conference with 38 triples on 43.7 percent shooting.

Henderson State (10-6, 6-4) will head across the street for the first Battle of the Ravine against Ouachita Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 5:30 p.m.
