WBB GAME NOTES VS. SOUTHERN ARKANSAS - DECEMBER 16, 2024
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. Â - Â The Reddie women's basketball team is set to host Southern Arkansas in its final game before the Christmas and New Year's break. Tip-off at the Duke Wells Center is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 19.
REDDIES NOTES
Henderson State closes out the 2024 calendar year with a home matchup versus Southern Arkansas. The Reddies split last season's series with the Muleriders, winning the last meeting by a score of 81-60. HSU has won seven straight games against SAU at the Duke Wells Center.
Natalie Cardenas' new career high of 27 points at Arkansas Tech ended up lasting only two days. The sophomore from Mesquite, Texas, tallied 32 points in Henderson's overtime loss to Harding. It was the highest scoring output by a Reddie and the fourth-highest point total from a GAC player in a single game this season.
Marlee Raby and
Sam Basson both set new career highs with 17 points apiece versus the Bisons.
Brynlee Huggins continues to top the Great American Conference leaderboard with 27 three-point field goals made in 2024-25.
Makenna Winans is fourth in the league with 8.1 total rebounds per game.
Bobbi Bazzle cracks the conference's top 10 with 6.7 boards per game. Bazzle's 3.3 offensive rebounds per game are tied for second in the GAC.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
Southern Arkansas enters Thursday's contest on the heels of back-to-back conference wins. The Muleriders will be seeking their first win at the Duke Wells Center since February 22, 2018.
Elena Lijo-Rodriguez is the reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week. The A Coruña, Spain, native averaged three blocks and two steals per game across last week's victories over Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas Tech.
Marlee Bright paces the Great American Conference with 6.4 assists per game - 2.1 more assists per game than any other player in the conference. She has posted six assists in three of the Muleriders' four GAC games thus far.
Crystal Ortiz averaged 22 points per game last week, including a career-high 27 points versus Arkansas Tech.
