Softball Faces Texas A&M-Texarkana in Sunday Twin Bill

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State welcomes the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana to Dee White Field on Sunday for a doubleheader, beginning at 12 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT
Henderson State recently split a midweek doubleheader with Texas Woman's, winning the first game 3-2 before seeing a defeat in the second contest 8-2. After going 1-1 against the Pioneers, HSU is 4-6 overall. The Reddies recorded 13 hits in the two games, led by Lily Warren, who went 4-of-7 across the doubleheader with a scored run. Warren leads the team in hits with 13 in 26 plate appearances, which sees the freshman pace the team with a .500 batting average.

Miyah Jackson continued her hit streak in the twin bill with a knock in each contest to make it ten games in a row with a hit. Jackson tallied her fourth home run of the season in the first outing and added three more RBIs across the two games to bring her season total to 11. Through ten games, Henderson is batting .303 as a team with 79 hits, including 12 doubles and six home runs.

Meagan Allen and Makenna Keeton got the starts in the circle in the two games. Allen pitched 5.1 innings in the first contest before Erika Bittinger came in for relief and picked up her second win of the season. Keeton is now second on the team in punchouts with ten in 12.1 innings after recording four in game two. The HSU pitching staff has a combined 6.88 ERA, with batters hitting .297 against the Reddies.

Henderson State and Texas A&M-Texarkana will face each other for the first time in program history on Friday. The Reddies have played ten home games to start the season and are 4-6 at Dee White Field. Last season, HSU went undefeated against NAIA competition, defeating Arkansas Baptist College in a midweek doubleheader by a combined score of 16-3. 

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-TEXARKANA
The Eagles are 2-3 through their first five games to begin the season and have lost their last two contest. Most recently, Texas A&M-Texarkana fell to Cottey College by one run in eight innings, 4-3, before seeing a 7-0 defeat to William Carey. The Eagles' two wins came in a doubleheader against Stephens College in a series Texarkana outscored the Stars 13-2.

A trio of batters are hitting over .400 for the Eagles, led by freshman infielder Karmen Searcy, who has six hits and three RBIs on a .500 batting average. Grace Cantu leads the team in extra base hits with a double, triple and home run on the year. The Eagles are batting .297 as a team and have plated 18 runs across five games with 18 hits.

Freshman Alexis Snyder leads the pitching staff for the Eagles with a 1-0 record in the circle in two appearances. Snyder has recorded 11 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched and has allowed 18 hits and just three runs. As a unit, the Eagles have a team ERA of 3.03, and opposing teams are hitting .331 against the Texas A&M-Texarkana pitching staff.
