HOUSTON, Texas - After day one of the Southern Invite at the Cypresswood Golf Course, No. 14 Henderson State is in second with a 36-hole score of 3-over 579. On the individual leaderboard,
Allie Bianchi is alone in first with a 7-under 137.
The Reddies are behind first-place No. 3 Dallas Baptist at 5-under 571, while No. 18 Midwestern State, No. 45 UT-Tyler and No. 11 West Texas A&M are in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Bianchi saw the best day of anyone in the 86-player field, carding rounds of 3-under 69 and 4-under 68. Across the 36 holes, the senior recorded 11 birdies to only two birdies and one double bogey.
Felisa Sajulga is tied for fifth at even-par 144 with the aid of an eagle on the 320-yard Par 4 13th hole in the first round helping her stay even through the first 18.
Daphney Tilton rounds out the Reddies in the Top-10 with a 36-hole score of 3-over 147.
Jinna Boonbumroongsuk shot a 6-over 78 in the first round before responding with a 1-over 73 to sit in a tie for 23rd. Rounding out the HSU golfers is
Kayla Perera in a tie for 72nd with a 19-over 163.
The final round of the Southern Invite will tee off at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning from the Par 72, 6035-yard Cypresswood Golf Course.
