ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State women's tennis played its first of three home matches over the next three days, defeating Texas A&M-Texarkana, 6-1.
After sweeping doubles, HSU took five of the six singles matches to claim the victory. Of the five singles victories, the Reddies lost just nine total games.
Marianna Murcia and 
Haarini Balakrishnan blanked their opponents at the No. 3 doubles line, 6-0. 
Jenna Kate Bohnert and 
Angela Georgieva clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 before 
Mulan Kamoe and 
Kristina Kozlova completed the sweep at the top spot, 6-3.
Balakrishnan, as she did in doubles, got through with her match early, giving HSU a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6 line. Bohnert won all 12 games at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-0. The match was clinched with Murcia taking her match at No. 5 in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Both 
Kristina Kozlova and 
Angela Georgieva won their respective first sets, 6-0, before taking the match with a second-set, 6-2 and 6-3 tally, respectively.
Henderson St. (4-2) will remain in Arkadelphia for the next two days as it meets previously-nationally ranked Angelo State at the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center Friday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.
