ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - It its third match in four days, Henderson State fell to No. 29 Missouri Western at the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center Tuesday afternoon, 5-2.
Highlighting the day was
Mulan Kamoe, defeated the ITA No. 27 ranked singles player in Anya Chavez. After falling to her at No. 1 doubles, Kamoe got her revenge against the Griffon.
Haarini Balakrishnan and
Tirzah Bailey, in their first match together as doubles partners, got the sole HSU win in the two-on-two portion of the match. The duo debuted with a 6-4 against MWSU's Isabella MacGibbon and Anais Peralta.
With Missouri Western capturing the first two singles matches following the doubles win,
Jenna Kate Bohnert put the Reddies on the board with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 4 line.
Kamoe then delivered in the singles match of the day were her victory over No. 29 Chavez. Chavez got the early upper hand in doubles with partner Greta Langiu edging out Kamoe and
Kristina Kozlova, 7-5.
The Nasoso Nadi, Fiji, native, made up for the loss with a 6-3 first-set win and then responding to a second-set, 6-2 loss with a 6-3 match-deciding third set. Kamoe is now 7-5 at the top line in singles play this season.
Henderson St. (7-5) will get its first taste of cross-street rival Ouachita Baptist in non-conference competition Friday, Mar. 15 at 2 p.m. on the Tigers' campus.
