ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State swept the doubles point before getting four of its five singles victories in straight sets as the Reddies defeated Ouachita Baptist at the Ward Tennis Center, 6-1.
Angela Georgieva and
Jenna Kate Bohnert got the first win at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, before
Haarini Balakrishnan and
Tirzah Bailey followed shortly behind with their own 6-2 victory.
Mulan Kamoe and
Kristina Kozlova withstood OUA's top doubles tandem to complete the sweep, 7-6 (7-4).
Bohnert and Kamoe completed their undefeated day with wins at No. 4 and No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively. With the match in favor of HSU, 3-0, the Tigers were able to pick up one singles point before
Marianna Murcia claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 line to clinch the match.
Kozlova and Balakrishnan added singles wins at No. 2 and at No. 6 as Kozlova saw her match go three sets before taking the victory, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-2.
Henderson State (8-5) will enjoy a weekend off before taking on Delta State Monday, Mar. 18 at 10:30 a.m. from the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center.
