CLEVELAND, Miss. - On the first day of Spring Break, the Henderson State women's tennis program defeated Delta State, 7-0.
Henderson took the doubles point after winning 2-of-3 matches before sweeping singles play, including two victories that came after dropping the opening set.
After Delta State had to forfeit the third doubles point,
Angela Georgieva and
Jenna Kate Bohnert took the lengthy doubles match at the No. 2 line, 7-6 (11-9), to see the early 1-0 lead.
Bohnert,
Marianna Murcia and
Haarini Balakrishnan clinched the match for the Reddies with wins at No. 4-6. Bohnert now holds an 11-2 overall singles record, including a 10-2 stance at the No. 4 spot.
Mulan Kamoe,
Kristina Kozlova and Georgieva completed the 7-0 sweep with three-set victories on their respective courts. Each of the three won third-set tiebreakers as Kamoe and Kozlova climbed back from being one set down.
