2024 ALL-GAC TEAMS
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - For the second straight year,
Mulan Kamoe was named the unanimous Great American Conference while
Kristina Kozlova was named First Team All-GAC,
Jenna Kate Bohnert and
Angela Georgieva received Second Team All-Conference recognition, and
Haarini Balakrishnan earned Elite Scholar Athlete honors.
Kamoe defended her title as the conference's Player of the Year while also being tabbed a unanimous First Team selection by going 15-6 at No. 1 singles and 12-6 at No. 1 doubles in the 2024 regular season.
The two-time GAC Player of the Year began this season by winning the Flight 1 Title at the GAC Individual Championships before going a perfect 5-0 in GAC singles matches this season.
This season, Kamoe was 1-1 against ITA Top-30 singles opponents and was 3-1 in ITA Top-50 doubles matches with teammate
Kristina Kozlova. The currently-ranked No. 44 duo was also up 6-5 on Dallas Baptist's then-No. 9 doubles tandem before the doubles point was clinched at the beginning of the year.
The aforementioned Kozlova made her debut on the All-GAC First Team after landing on the Second Team as a freshman in 2023. The sophomore finished the 2024 regular season with a 12-6 singles record at the No. 2 spot, including a 3-2 stand in conference play, while being 12-6 and 4-1 in GAC action at No. 1 doubles.
Bohnert and Georgieva were both recognized on the All-Conference Second Team, with this being the second straight such honor Bohnert has earned. The Rogers, Arkansas, product finished the season with the second-most singles wins on the team with a 14-5 record between the No. 3 and 4 spot.
Georgieva, a senior transfer from the University of North Dakota, held a 12-6 singles record and a 11-9 doubles record with Bohnert as her teammate in her first year with the HSU women's tennis program. Along with Kozlova and Bohnert, Georgieva went 3-2 in GAC singles matches, all of which came at the No. 3 line.
Rounding out the All-Conference recipients was Balakrishnan as she was one of three student-athletes to be named an Elite Scholar Athlete. The former University of Charleston transfer has been with the HSU women's tennis program the last two seasons, making her debut on the All-GAC teams in 2024.
After posting a first-round victory over No. 6 seed Ouachita Baptist in the GAC Championships, No. 3 Henderson State will meet second seed and nationally-ranked Southern Arkansas in the semifinals Friday, Apr. 26 at 1 p.m. as the Reddies look to build momentum from its large haul from the 2024 All-Conference awards.
