All-District Team
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State softball team had two recipients make the CSC Academic All-District Team, as
Brooke Johnson and
Meagan Allen earned these honors.
Earlier this season, both Johnson and Allen were recognized for their work in the classroom by the Great American Conference, as Johnson earned the Elite Scholar Athlete award and Allen was named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete.
Johnson, a graduate student from Rockwall, Texas, held a 4.00 GPA this year while pursuing her Master of Science in Sports Administration. In addition, the Rockwall High School product is a finalist for the national ballot, which will be voted on later this year.
Johnson owned the second-best ERA (2.75) from the circle this season for the Reddies while leading the team with 43 strikeouts in 61.0 frames of work. At the plate, the All-GAC Honorable Mention player had 25 hits on a .229 batting average with two doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs. Johnson saw five multi-hit contests, including a season-high three hits in game two against Arkansas-Monticello.
Allen finished her senior year with a 3.90 GPA while studying Nursing. On the diamond, Allen led the HSU pitching staff with a 5-8 record and had the most appearances in the circle, playing 24 games and starting 12 contests. The Lepanto, Ark. native ended the season with a 3.60 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 70.0 innings. In two seasons with the Reddies, Allen has a 3.42 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 137.0 innings of work and has thrown five complete games.
