BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - 18 holes into the 2024 Central Region Championships and No. 13/15 Henderson State is in second place with an 11-over 299 while first-place Southwestern Oklahoma State sits at 10-over 298.
The top-seeded Reddies were holding the lead through 13 holes with a team-score of 3-over par, but shot 8-over across the final five holes to finish opening day one shot off the lead. Following the two GAC foes, tournament-host Rogers State is in third at 17-over 305.
Jinna Boonbumroongsuk paces Henderson State after day one with a 1-over 73 as she is currently tied for sixth and just one stroke off the leader. Following a 1-over start through the first three holes, the unanimous First Team All-Conference recipient remained even the rest of the round to highlight her 13 first-round pars.
GAC Player of the Year
Allie Bianchi sits tied for eighth after carding a 2-over 74. Echoing the overall team's round, Bianchi tore through the first 13 holes to the tune of 1-under par before three bogeys on her final five holes sees her two shots off the leader.
Lily Nelson and
Felisa Sajulga tied for the third best rounds of the day for the Reddies with 4-over 76s as the duo sits in a tie for 12th. Nelson tied the team-lead with 13 pars while Sajulga, after playing the front nine 3-over, finished the back-half of her round 1-over, including a birdie on the Par 5 18th.
Daphney Tilton joined Boonbumroongsuk and Nelson with a baker's dozen pars, rounding out the HSU five-bag with a 6-over 78 for a spot at 19th in the 51-player field.
No. 13/15 Henderson State will begin the second round of the 2024 Central Region Championships Tuesday, May 7 with Tilton teeing off at 10:50 a.m. CT, followed by Sajulga, Nelson, Bianchi and Boonbumroongsuk in 10 minute increments.
