WBB GAME NOTES VS. OUACHITA BAPTIST: JANUARY 23, 2025
ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  -  Following back-to-back road games in Oklahoma, Henderson State returns to the friendly confines of the Duke Wells Center to take on Ouachita Baptist in this season's first edition of Battle of the Ravine. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23.
REDDIES REPORT
The Reddies prepare to face Ouachita Baptist for the first time since the two teams' back-to-back instant classic meetings in 2023-24. The first game at OBU saw
Sam Basson bank in a three-pointer at the buzzer to force double overtime in an eventual 94-92 Henderson win. Later in the season,
Brynlee Huggins hit a game-winning jumper in the final seconds of regulation to seal a 78-76 HSU victory.
With nine straight games of 10 or more points, Huggins has the team's longest active double-digit scoring streak. The junior from Pangburn, Arkansas, tops the GAC leaderboard with 44 threes made this season.
During last weekend's road trip to Oklahoma, Basson shot five-of-nine from three-point range. She has made three or more triples in five of her last seven games.
Henderson State is one of two teams in the league boasting two players with six or more rebounds per game (the other being first-place Harding).
Makenna Winans is fifth in the conference with 7.6 boards per game, while
Bobbi Bazzle sits in sixth with 6.9.
HSU's 403 team rebounds in conference play rank first in the league through 10 games.
SCOUTING OUACHITA BAPTIST
The Tigers make the short trip across U.S. Highway 67 with the goal of winning at the Duke Wells Center for the first time since 2021. Half of Ouachita's last eight matchups with the Reddies have been decided by three points or less.
OBU returns eight of its nine players that appeared in the last Battle of  the Ravine contest. Three of those players (Madeleine Tipton, Laney Mears, Grayson Fairless) reached double figures in both showdowns with Henderson in 2023-24.
Ouachita is one of three GAC teams to hold a top five spot in both field goal percentage (second at .418) and opposing field goal percentage (fifth at .396).
Shooting 36.3 percent as a team, the Tigers have been the league's most efficient team from three-point range since the start of conference play.
